Garden Guide


Location: McCrory Gardens Education & Visitor Center


Duties: Orient and welcome visitors to gardens.  Provide site interpretation of display gardens, conduct guided tours at scheduled times and by appointment. 


Skills: Interest in and willingness to learn about plants; willingness to learn teaching, presentation, and basic people management skills; willingness to work with large and small groups, or one on one; willingness to assist staff with related administrative tasks, such as paperwork, filing, and scheduling.  Must enjoy children and adults.


Training: Must attend orientation. Specialized training to be arranged.


Hours: Our need for garden guides is greatest in spring, summer and fall. Minimum shift is two hours.  We ask for a one-year commitment.  Hours available: 9:00 am-5:00 pm daily.


Dress:  Volunteers should be well groomed and dressed appropriately to present a good impression of McCrory Gardens, walking shoes. Shorts are permissible but must be "walking shorts" type. Volunteer Badge
